I would like to offer this letter to anyone interested in a referral for the art therapy and healing services provided by Nicole Porter Willcox and the Art Therapy Connecticut Task Force. Nicole has been instrumental in helping our children (and us) heal in the aftermath of 12/14. I am especially drawn to the benefits of art therapy as it provides an open environment that allows the children to explore and discuss issues without feeling like they are being interviewed. To be perfectly honest, I wasn’t even aware that our first meeting was a therapy session – that is how natural it is and feels.
I was amazed at how much my children opened up to Nicole and discussed things that were on their mind. They were easily willing to share with Nicole certain aspects that they chose not to discuss with us. Nicole has provided consistent sessions that have been critical to the success of the program, and is allowing her to continue to monitor our children’s progress against the baseline she established on our first meeting. Meetings with Nicole have become a highlight for our children, as their excitement builds as their weekly appointment draws nearer and nearer.
I strongly recommend Nicole and her team for anyone impacted, no matter how big or little it may seem. Her help and healing have gone a long way and I am thrilled to see they will be able to continue to support and provide for our community for the foreseeable future. I am happy to provide further insight or answer any specific questions one might have.
