Porter Art therapy

Nicole’s practice

My experience as a therapist consist in facilitating sessions for a vast array of psychological concerns across all ages and I have special interest in trauma, early childhood, and the effects across all ages.  I have heightened experience working with individuals displaying expressive communication difficulties, symptoms of trauma, anxiety and/or depressive symptoms, chronic illness, identity issues, and anger management.

The most integral element of therapy consists in creating a collaborative, unique and consistent therapeutic alliance.  My intention is to provide an atmosphere meeting the clients needs to safely explore, acknowledge and gain insight regarding their thoughts, feelings and behaviors.  This therapeutic relationship becomes the space for one to transform and develop in a satisfying and life enhancing direction.

Utilizing a multitude of techniques when guiding individuals and families to overcome or cope with concerns, I have specialized training in the use of imagery and visual art.

What an art therapist does provide beyond most clinicians is visual insight into the non-verbal realm of the mind-body.  I am comfortable and trained to structure a plan to move with the client using their own creativity where true curative processes exist.  As I prefer to guide using a visual art therapy process and discussion, I am also able to structure more traditional “talk based” therapy to meet ones preference.
